The Volkswagen Group, started in the 1930s, produces nine brands of vehicles. The company, headquartered in Germany, is the largest carmaker in Europe and in 2009 produced over 11 percent of the world's passenger cars. Volkswagen literally means the "people's car" in German, and many people are enthusiastic owners. There are several VW clubs throughout Wisconsin.

  1. Chippewa Valley Volkswagen Club

    • Chippewa Valley Volkswagen Club (CVVC) holds one of the largest VW car shows in Wisconsin. Since 1999, the two-day family event has taken place yearly in June. It features a car show with awards, cruise, cookout, swap meet, activities and games for all ages, door prizes, coloring contest and camping on the show grounds. CVVC calls western Wisconsin home, but members live throughout the state. The annual membership fee goes toward insurance for the annual show and monthly newsletter. Members meet monthly, have occasional parties and help each other with personal VW projects. The CVVC aims to share the enjoyment and fellowship of VW owners and enthusiasts, and to act as a source of information and assistance for VW owners.

Its monthly newsletter includes technical advice, club decisions, articles from various publications and newsletter items from other Wisconsin VW clubs and clubs in five other states. Membership includes the newsletter, 10 percent discount from Sheboygan's Motorville Volkswagen Dealership and 10 percent discount at various auto parts stores. Over 100 members come from northern and central Wisconsin to share their enthusiasm for air-cooled, vintage VW vehicles. There are no membership fees but they ask for a small donation to help fund their website and events. Members get together to attend car shows, camp outs, cruises and picnics.
